The Festival is a 5 day performing arts celebration for young audiences held each May following the Victoria Day long weekend
The Festival takes place in the heart of Calgary's city centre. The Festival utilizes 5 to 7 state-of-the-art theatre venues in the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts and presents free outdoor performances and arts-related activities on the Olympic Plaza
The CICF is the second largest festival of its kind in Canada and the third largest in North America
Over 1.2 million people have attended the Festival since its inception in 1987
The Festival has played host to professional artists from over 60 countries who have represented their cultures through music, theatre and dance performances
Between 24,000 to 28,000 people attend ticketed performances and workshops each year
Approximately 26,000 people attend the Festival's free outdoor programming and arts related activities on Olympic Plaza each year
The Festival partners with the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Separate School Board to ensure high quality arts learning and curriculum based programming is available to all Calgary students
6000+ children and families attend the annual Festival through corporate and individual donations to the Outreach Fund
600+ volunteers support the Festival event each year
49 social service organizations collaborate with the Festival to ensure the event is accessible to all young people
60+ children residing at the Alberta Children's Hospital experience annual performances and arts workshops through the Festival's Hospital Program
