Student & School Group Volunteers

Hundreds of Calgarians, teachers and students devote their time and energy to making this Festival one of the most successful international children’s festivals in the world. To be part of this success story, volunteer as a class or as an individual.

Ambassodor Volunteer

Volunteer Program
Learn new skills or brush up on old ones by helping young people express themselves through hands-on activities, workshops and events. The Festival offers a great opportunity to contribute to Calgary’s community spirit and make a difference in the life of a child.

Ambassador Program
Festival Ambassadors meet classes when they arrive on site and guide students to their first performance of the day. Leadership is the key to making our festival run smoothly and we depend on our Ambassadors to lead the way.

Volunteer Opportunities for Grades 9 to 12

Portable Art Craft Tent
This is a large activity area where volunteers guide and encourage children's creativity with pre-planned crafts.

Scholar's Choice Activity Centre
In the Scholar's Choice Activity Tent, children are encouraged to build whatever their imaginations create. Come To Play!

Tunes Tent
This is a karaoke tent where the kids can belt out their favorite tunes. Assist people with song selection and costumes, then stand back and let the stars shine.

Qualico's Clayground
Kids dig into some clay and create their own miniature masterpiece. The kids then add their creation to the main sculpture and watch as the community grows throughout the week.

Wax Hands
Back by popular demand! Volunteers will help children cast their hands in wax and then dye it funky colours.

YouthInk Comics Corner
Volunteers will assist young people with the creation of their very own comic books.

Nylon Zoo/Hands-On-Playground
Lead group games and supervise children in this active play area that uses hula-hoops, balls, and so much more. This area requires volunteers that have lots of energy and enthusiasm. In the Nylon Zoo you will assist younger children in dressing up in brightly coloured costumes and leading them in a parade around Olympic Plaza.

Paper Marbling: Experiments in Colour
New this year! Join the Art Gallery of Calgary in working with children to experiment with line, shape and colour as they never have before. Kids will be amazed by the wonderful design they create by using this simple and fascinating technique.
