Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers

In conjunction with the University of Calgary's Fine Arts Associates Program, these classes are offered to teachers, theatre professionals, and anyone interested in exploring the arts:

DANCE WORKSHOP with Illstyle and Peace Productions
Illsyle and Peace Productions Saturday May 24       4:30 pm       #89

90 minutes. Maximum Participants 25.
Ages 16 & Up.

This class is a fun and challenging experience that will introduce participants to various dance styles such as B-boying / B-girling (often misunderstood as break dancing), hip-hop, modern, jazz, African, and more.

THE ART OF CLOWNING with DynamO Theatre
DynamO Theatre Friday, May 23       4:30 pm       #65

90 minutes. Maximum Participants 15.
Ages 16 & up.

Jacqueline Gosslin, artistic director of Montreal’s DynamO Theatre, will instruct this class on the art of clowning. The workshop is designed to encourage participants to explore the heart of the clown’s spontaneity, physicality and sense of fun.

All workshops are conducted by professional artists and will be held in the ATP Rehearsal Hall. Workshops are 90 minutes in length and cost $25 per person.

ZANYMATION - Animation Workshops
Quickdraw Animation Society / Alberta
90 minutes.       Maximum Participants 30.       Grade 3 to 9 / Age 8 to 14
(Teachers supervising do not require a ticket)

Quickdraw Animation Society

This hands-on workshop teaches students the fundamental principles of bringing the inanimate to life. Using paper cutouts, drawings, action figures and computers, students will work in groups to develop animations that express their own unique viewpoints. In addition to creating in a fun-filled environment, participants will gain insight into the science of motion pictures. Instructors from Quickdraw Animation Society lead this fun, creative and educational workshop. QAS is a Calgary-based artist-run centre specializing in the creation and appreciation of animation.
