Opportunities for Junior and Senior High School Students
Each year as part of our commitment to Calgary as a community,
we offer meaningful volunteer opportunities for classes of mature
junior and senior high school students.
(Grades 9 through 12)
Leadership, drama, fine arts or other student groups are invited to volunteer at the festival and
contribute in any of the following areas:
Portable Art Craft Tent
This is a large activity area where volunteers guide and encourage children's creativity with pre-planned crafts.
Scholar's Choice Activity Centre
In the Scholar's Choice Activity Tent, children are encouraged to build whatever their imaginations create. Come To Play!
Tunes Tent
This is a karaoke tent where the kids can belt out their favorite tunes. Assist people with song selection and costumes, then stand back and let the stars shine.
Qualico's Clayground
Kids dig into some clay and create their own miniature masterpiece. The kids then add their creation to the main sculpture and watch as the community grows throughout the week.
Wax Hands
Back by popular demand! Volunteers will help children cast their hands in wax and then dye it funky colours.
YouthInkIT Comics Corner
New this year to the Festival! Volunteers will assist young people, ages 9 and up, with the creation of their very own comic books.
Ambassador Crew
Meet buses and guide groups to theatres to ensure they get to their shows on time. This volunteer position is targeting High School Students only. Ambassador shifts will take place weekday mornings and afternoons (Tues-Fri) and will coincide with bus schedules as well as show times. The shifts are as follows, 8:30am-11:30am and 11:15am-2:00pm.
All groups are given an in-school orientation and training before the Festival. School/group volunteers will enjoy a performance on the day that you volunteer.
